Worker Health Assessment

  • The purpose of the pre-placement and periodical health assessments is to ensure that the employee is able to perform the tasks without foreseeable negative health and safety consequences.

Pre-placement Health Assessment

Worker placement assessments are conducted to ensure that employees can perform their job without a hazard to themselves or to their coworkers. This type of health assessment occurs when an offer of employment has been made – this prospective worker will be assessed for their physical and emotional capacities and the physical, psychological, and environmental demands of the job.

Periodic Health Assessments

This type of monitoring is conducted periodically (eg. Every 2 years, every 5 years) to detect any previously unrecognized health problems or undiagnosed health effects and to determine if any work-related health effects have occurred. This is considered a comprehensive assessment completed by either an OHN, RN or Physician.
